Griffins News · 2020 Fall Sports Registration by August 3rd

Griffin Nation,

I pray this finds you well. As we prepare for the coming school year we must look forward with hope and courage but be prepared to adjust when needed. Given the most recent directive from the San Antonio Metro Health Director, schools and in-person athletics can not resume until after September 7th or as soon as schools resume on-campus instruction. Both UIL and TCSAAL have modified their season start dates in an attempt to accommodate the many different directives throughout the state.
As soon as schools can begin on-campus instruction, all athletic activities will be offered to both in-person and distance learning students. Given the ever changing nature of our current crisis, we ask that everyone who wishes to play a Fall sport  register by Monday, August 3rd. This will allow coaches to begin giving at-home workouts to help athletes prepare for the coming season as well as provide ample time for us to plan and communicate information about tryouts in accordance with the UIL’s and GHTX’s current Covid Response procedures. These sport specific procedures in response to Covid-19 will be provided to registered families by the coaches through email once we are able to solidify tryout dates and times.
FALL REGISTRATION INFO
Physical – For the 2020-2021 athletic year, any GHNO athletes who had a physical examination completed after August 2019 by either a Physician, a Physician Assistant licensed by a State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, a Registered Nurse recognized as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners, or a Doctor of Chiropractic will only need to submit the Medical History document for this year. Any athlete who did not compete with GHNO in the 2019-2020 year will need both a new physical and medical history form.
Payment – Registration for a sport does not require payment up front. Payment of the athletic fee will be postponed until after tryouts at which time the Head Coach will send a link for payment through Configio. With our acceptance into the UIL fees have been adjusted to $300 for all High School athletes and $275 for all Middle School athletes. Great Hearts Northern Oaks does not exclude any student from participation due to financial hardship. The school determines a family’s eligibility for free and reduced athletic fees through our Student Cost Waiver application, available in the school office. Eligibility for waived or reduced athletic fees is determined according to the same standards as those found in the Free and Reduced Lunch application. If you believe you may qualify for this assistance, please speak with the office manager, Shraddha Nembang (shraddha.nembang@greatheartsnorthernoaks.org) before you complete the payment portion of the online registration process.
